Zoom Video Freezing – Known Issue Version 5.7.4

As soon as Zoom upgraded to version 5.7.4 I started having trouble with the incoming video (the other person’s video) freezing. My video would continue to be fine to both my view, and from the other person’s view.

It could be remedied by the person stopping and restarting their video, but only for a few moments.

I did contact Zoom support and they confirm that this is a known issue, and they are expecting a fix in version 5.7.6, planned for August 15, 2021.

I was not told if some people are also experiencing problems with their own video freezing.

I could only find scant mentions of this online, which is why I am posting this here!

Zoom support did offer some assistance but it didn’t work for me, I’m holding out for the fix…But if you want to try your luck I suggest you contact them. 🙂

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine “The Visitor” – Wow.

Screensaver for using Spotify with Chromecast

I was quite delighted when I found out my cable company (Rogers) gave me 2 years of Spotify for free. I can Chromecast from Chrome on my Chromebook…connects to the TV and stereo system, brilliant.

However it was a slight annoyance that with the chromecasting, the TV was displaying the quite busy, and largely static, spotify web page. I don’t think my TV is subject to screen burn, but it is still disconcerting and not good for the ambiance. Continue reading
